Celebrating Mother's Day

All of us at Anna Beck would like to wish all the mothers out there a wonderful and very happy Mother's Day!

Mother's Day is a very special day to remember and show appreciation for all the wonderful women in the world who sacrifice and care for children. And this year I am so grateful to be home in the States with my own mother!

This day is also very special to me because our company works so closely with Robin Lim and her organization Bumi Sehat. This wonderful woman does so much for the families lucky enough to work with her. We are so proud to support Robin as she helps keep women safe and healthy as they become mothers.

Behind the Scenes: Anna Beck Photo Shoot

It's always exciting  preparing for an upcoming campaign.  After a whirlwind visit to the states I returned to Bali a few weeks ago and threw myself into our 2012 Anna Beck photo shoot.   In addition to shooting our model, we wanted to do a fashion film, a behind the scenes look at the factory, and a documentary on Robin Lim, the founder of  Bumi Sehat, Anna Beck's local charity.

My good friend, fashion photographer, stylist, and documentary film maker Sybil Steele arrived from Byron Bay, Australia with her talented filming partner Johnny  Abegg and they inspired us all with their energy and vision. 

It was a lot to fit into their 10 day trip, but Sybil, Johnny and the rest of the crew made our long days working together some of the most pleasant and enjoyable days I have ever had on a shoot.

Meet Anna Beck's Photographer - Sybil Steele

This week Anna Beck’s photographer, Sybil Steele, was featured in Shop Til You Drop,  an Australian fashion magazine. 

Sybil is a stylist-turned-photographer who we have been lucky enough to work with for the past few years. Currently, she is with Becky shooting the new 2012 Anna Beck Campaign and producing an Anna Beck sponsored short film on Robin Lim, founder of Bumi Sehat.

ROBIN LIM of Bumi Sehat Wins
CNN HERO OF THE YEAR!

CONGRATULATIONS to our dear friend, Robin Lim, of Bumi Sehat. She was named the CNN Hero of the Year on Sunday Night! The CNN Hero of the Year was chosen by the public after an 11-week vote on CNN.com.

Please Vote -- Robin Lim for CNN Hero of the Year

In the past couple of weeks I was fortunate enough to spend some time with Bali midwife Robin Lim during the long hours of a friend’s home birth.  Robin has been honored by CNN with a nomination for their Hero of the Year award. She showed up ready to be of service and assist my friend after a whirlwind filming session with CNN.  Although excited about the nomination, Robin was able to remain completely focused on peacefully guiding my friend Courtney to deliver her baby boy.

Winning the CNN hero award would allow Robin to continue to assist more pregnant women all over Bali and Indonesia who don’t have the means to take care of themselves or the babies they are carrying.  Robin has helped thousands of women, trained many midwives, and sustained her humble clinic in Ubud on donations alone.  She needs our continued support to help her and the future of our world’s children.
