Making a Difference:
Bumi Sehat

While living and working in Bali some years ago, I met Robin Lim, also known as Ibu Robin Lim. (Ibu Robin Lim translates to "mother Robin Lim" in Balinese. Ibu is an endearing term for older, respected women.) During my time living in Indonesia, I had a constant feeling deep inside me that, as a foreigner, I felt like I needed to do something to give back to Bali. This feeling crossed over into my work life and, as a brand, I wanted to connect to something more meaningful. It was soon after I was experiencing this longing for more that Robin came into my life.

We met through mutual friends and our connection was genuine. Something about it felt familiar and I immediately saw how loving, open and unconditionally giving she was to those around her. After moving from the U.S., Robin saw a need and wholeheartedly filled it. She started helping local Balinese women and eventually opened a small birthing clinic called Bumi Sehat in Ubud, Bali. With limited resources, she was able to provide a safe place for local Indonesian women to give birth free of charge. (Many families cannot afford to have children in the hospital, so they turn to harmful, unsafe options.) She was saving lives and offering hope to local women and families that desperately needed her. Her clinic was also a safe haven for families and children with chronic, immediate, and general medical needs.

Recently, I had the honor of sitting and sharing a coconut with her during my visit to Bali and I look forward to sharing the remarkable work she is doing. Robin is spreading love, joy and relief in Bali, as well as all over Indonesia where it is needed the most. Now, Robin and her team are not only helping expecting mothers and babies, they are also first responders to deliver medical needs and relief to disaster victims, offer free ambulance services, and help Indonesian families pay medical bills when they can't on their own.

We met some nine years ago when she had her first clinic in Bali and today she has expanded to four hospitals all over Indonesia, and one in the PhilippinesAt the clinics, they offer a comprehensive range of allopathic and holistic medicine, as well as pre and post-natal care, breastfeeding support, infant, child and family health services, nutritional education, pre-natal yoga and gentle, loving natural birth services. Robin carries endless hope and also an unwavering commitment to the people that depend on her and her staff.

We created the Circle of Life collection benefiting Bumi Sehat and since its inception, it has become one of our top selling collections. What I’ve found is that customers -whether they are mothers, daughters, sisters or husbands - connect with Robin & Bumi Sehat's story and mission to give back and save lives.

If you are interested in learning more about Bumi Sehat or want to help by making a donation to the organization, please visit www.bumisehat.org, or you can view this short video as well. To shop the Circle of Life collection, click here. 30% of all proceeds from the Circle of Life collection goes directly to Bumi Sehat to aid in the wonderful work they are doing all across Indonesia.

With my whole heart, thank you.
